Why We’re Taking on the Bath Half Marathon for Julian House

Climate Impact News / 3rd Feb 2026

On March 15th, the Olympus Power team will be taking on the Bath Half Marathon in support of Julian House, a charity delivering vital homelessness and support services across the South West.

We work with complex infrastructure, long-term resilience, and future-focused systems every day. However, resilience is not only about energy or grids. It is also about people. That is why we have chosen to run and fundraise for an organisation that helps individuals rebuild stability when life becomes uncertain.

Homelessness Is a Growing Reality, Not a Distant Issue

Across England, homelessness continues to rise. More people are being pushed into insecure housing due to rising living costs, limited housing supply and fragile support systems. As a result, many individuals now live one unexpected expense away from losing their home.

Importantly, rough sleeping figures only tell part of the story. Many people experience hidden homelessness. They sofa surf, sleep in vehicles or stay in unsafe temporary accommodation. These situations often go unseen but the impact is just as severe.

The Impact Extends Far Beyond Housing

Homelessness affects every part of a person’s life. Physical health deteriorates faster without safe shelter. Mental health challenges intensify under constant stress. Access to healthcare becomes inconsistent. At the same time, exposure to risk increases daily.

Because of this, homelessness cannot be solved by housing alone. It requires coordinated support, trust and long-term thinking. That is exactly where Julian House plays a critical role.

How Julian House Creates Long-Term Change

Julian House supports thousands of people each year across the South West of England. Their work includes street outreach, supported housing and Housing First programmes for people with complex needs.

In addition, they provide refuge spaces for adults and children escaping domestic abuse. They support people leaving prison, those recovering from illness and individuals facing multiple layers of disadvantage. Crucially, their services focus on dignity and independence, not short-term fixes.

Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, Julian House builds support around the individual. This approach helps people regain control, stability and confidence over time.

Why Olympus Power Chose to Get Involved

At Olympus Power, we believe resilience must be practical. It should protect against risk, support recovery and create space to move forward. These principles apply just as much to communities as they do to energy systems.

Public funding for homelessness services remains under pressure. Meanwhile, demand continues to grow. As a result, fundraising plays a vital role in keeping essential services running.

By running the Bath Half Marathon, we are contributing in a tangible way. Every mile represents support for people who need stability, safety and a fair chance to rebuild their lives.

How You Can Support the Cause

You can support our fundraising by donating, sharing our campaign or starting conversations about homelessness in your own networks. Each action helps sustain the services that Julian House provides every day.

We’re proud to continue supporting Julian House and raise awareness to the invaluable work they provide. If you’d like to get behind our team and this fantastic initiative then please consider donating or sharing our fundraiser today.
