New UK and Germany partnership as Olympus Power and Cube Concepts announce commercial solar partnership.

Cube Concepts and Olympus Power are expecting to add 500MWp of solar power generated in both the UK and Europe within the next three years.

Olympus Power, known in the UK for their expertise in developing commercial scale renewable energy projects for manufacturing sites, retail parks and industrial land have partnered with a German company of complementary strategic standing – Cube Concepts, based in Kaarst.

With many opportunities already identified, Cube Concepts and Olympus Power are expecting to add 500MWp of solar power within the next three years. The two businesses are well-aligned, with both offering Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) as an attractive route of installation for large-scale commercial organisations to power their operations and benefit from cheaper energy and a smaller carbon footprint.

Simon Nicholls, CEO of Olympus Power: “We are really excited about this partnership – both our companies offer full service design and installation of solar power and energy storage systems, as well as financing options for businesses, so it’s an excellent fit. An increasing number of clients we work with have multiple sites, not just in the UK but across Europe, so making partnerships with client-focused providers makes perfect sense.”

Jochen Schäfer, Chief Investment Officer of Cube Concepts, is also looking forward to the collaboration: “We are happy to have a strong and like-minded partner in the UK where our international clients demand the same service we provide in our core market. With the long experience and solid track record of our partner, in combination with our strong international client base, this partnership will gain market penetration in both the UK and Europe.”

Olympus Power and Cube Concepts have already developed a UK project together, a large roof-mounted solar power system for a manufacturing warehouse complex, predicted to generate 450,000 kWh a year, which will significantly reduce the company’s electricity costs and save 211 tonnes of CO₂ annually.

The two companies are organising a knowledge sharing exchange, with members of the Olympus Power team being introduced at the Cube Concepts headquarters in Kaarst, west Germany this month.

Commercial rooftop solar installation is more mature in Germany, and the Olympus Power team are keen to explore the flexible grid connection system and to bolster the deployment of solar PV. All new build commercial properties must have some solar power generation, with suitable grid connection points provided by government mandate. Later this year Cube Concepts members will visit the Olympus Power operations team in south west UK.

The long term nature of this partnership will benefit clients who will have a single point of contact for all the expertise of the two companies.

The two companies expect a steady growth in partnership projects as more European-wide clients seek to install renewable energy systems in order to offset rising energy costs and meet their sustainability targets.
