Vanessa, who has been General Manager with the alternative energy company for over six years, is delighted to be nominated. “It is fantastic recognition for the mission of Olympus Power, in our goal of saving one million tonnes of carbon by 2025, and for me personally I’m delighted to represent women in what is traditionally a male dominated industry.”

Olympus Power design and develop solar power and other carbon saving solutions for organisations across the UK. The team at Olympus Power have nominated Vanessa for her passionate leadership and expertise, driven by bringing sustainable power solutions to make a difference now and in the future.

Since Vanessa joined the company, she has ensured a gender-blind philosophy, with recruitment and progression based on merit, and has encouraged diversity via a flexible working practice. This has led to the current gender ratio of 50/50 in the company.

She leads on sustainable policy for the company overseeing due diligence in procurement as well as navigating the business and clients through the complexities of delivering large scale, commercial energy solutions.

Vanessa is clear that success of the company comes through collaboration. “This is not an individual achievement, it comes from a team ethic and the partnerships we form with clients who share the same vision of clean energy. The growth and success of the team here is due to all of us taking up the challenge of climate change.”

The Green Business of the Year category of the West Country Women Award is sponsored by LHC Design who develop sustainable architecture.
