Work has started on Guy Watson’s Farm in Devon where Olympus Power are installing an integrated solar, battery and hydro scheme.
A long-standing client of ours, Guy, who is the founder of Riverford Organic Farms asked us to help him go off grid and we were only too happy to help with this laudable ambition.
Once the solar panelling has been installed and the energy output is confirmed as we forecast, our team will select the right battery component to store energy from the solar panels. This will ensure a continuous, off grid supply for the site. Further stages of this fully-managed energy project include assessing a pumped-hydro scheme, using the additional solar power generated to raise the water. This will make Guy’s farm fully powered by renewable energy, bringing them close to net zero production, as well as protecting the operation from increasing energy costs.
This concept of full grid defection runs through our larger commercial schemes where we integrate multi-MegaWatt rooftop solar photovoltaic panels together with battery energy storage systems (BESS) at scale.
