LAWRENCE DAVID
CUTTING CARBON AND BILLS
HIGHLIGHTS

Commercial rooftop solar array

Power purchase agreement delivers cheaper electricity

Saves 350 tonnes of CO2 year

Cuts bills by up to 30%
Trailer manufacturer Lawrence David is the kind of business that really benefits from solar power. Building HGV trailers uses a lot of energy, so reducing its reliance on mains power is a straightforward way to cut carbon and save money.
We built a 50KW system for the business in 2014, and in 2019 we went back to the Peterborough HQ and started work on a 530KW system. Built and installed as part of a power purchase agreement, it didn’t cost Lawrence David a penny, as we own and maintain the system for its working lifespan.
Lawrence David then buys electricity from Olympus for less than it would be charged on a utility’s commercial tariff. It’s saving between 20% and 30% in bills, which adds up to a sizeable annual sum. And because it’s 100% renewable power, the business is saving 350 tonnes of CO2 every year.
“Olympus fitted our first solar install in 2014, and it was such a good experience we got them back in 2019 to extend the system. Simon and his team were able to deliver both projects with staggering simplicity and at zero cost to our business, providing us with subsidy-free electricity under a 20-year power purchase agreement. Aside from the welcome savings in energy costs, we’ve reduced our CO2 emissions by over 350 tonnes a year.”
